Director of Facilities and Maintenance
Fairbanks Local Schools is seeking a qualified and experienced Director of Facilities and Maintenance to provide leadership and oversight of the district’s physical plant operations, including maintenance, custodial services, and buildings and grounds.
This position ensures that all district facilities are safe, clean, efficient, and well maintained, supporting a positive learning environment for students and staff. The Director of Facilities and Maintenance is responsible for supervising department personnel, managing maintenance operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting long-term facility planning and capital improvement efforts.
The position reports directly to the Superintendent and works collaboratively with district administrators, staff, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in building trades and facility maintenance
- Supervisory or leadership experience in facilities, maintenance, or related fields
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Successful completion of FBI & BCI background checks
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC certification
- Experience in school district or institutional facilities management
- Training or experience related to OSHA safety regulations
- Supervisory or leadership experience in facilities, maintenance, or related fields
- Experience managing maintenance staff & facility operations
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience. Benefits and contract terms will be provided in accordance with district policies and applicable employment agreements.
